Nigel Stepney has finally been sacked by Ferrari following a tip-off of his leaks of confidential information to rival McLaren Mercedes team.
A day of shocking developments began with the dismissal by Ferrari of leading British engineer Nigel Stepney, who was already suspended and under criminal investigation by an Italian court in the wake of a complaint against him, brought by Ferrari.
A Ferrari spokesman said: "An internal disciplinary procedure has been completed and Nigel Stepney is no longer an employee of Ferrari."
Later, McLaren learnt that a senior member of their staff was also the subject of an investigation by Ferrari after receiving secret technical information from a Ferrari employee in April. McLaren took immediate action by suspending the un-named individual and launching their own inquiry.
The season is hotting up by the day.. ;)
